RYA POWERBOAT ADVANCED - CoC

Course for those wishing to operate craft commercially up to 20 miles from a safe haven by day or night.

3 Days & 2 nights from 10.00 (inc exam)

Difficulty: Advanced

Students taking the Advanced Powerboat CoC Exam need to hold a VHF/SRC operators certificate and a valid first aid certificate, and have 2 years relevant experience including night pilotage. Once you complete this RYA Advanced Powerboat Course Completion Certificate the seatime is required as a guide is: 20 days, 2 days as skipper, 400 miles, 12 night hours. All qualifying seatime must be within 10 years prior to the exam. You are strongly advised to complete the Yachtmaster theory too.
Once successfully passed, the CoC can then be commercially endorsed with Sea Survival, PPR and a ML5 or ENG1 Medical

Course includes use of our RibQuest 6.5 metre RIB which is based in Torquay Marina. Fuel, certificate and handbook are all included.

The RYA exam fee is excluded, the exam will take place on the last day taking in some day/night time driving and include passage planning.

How long is the licence valid?

Your licence will be registered with the RYA so the is always a record, there is no revalidation required.

Can I hire a boat using the licence?

Yes, but in Europe you are best gaining the International Certificate of Competence(ICC), this is just a paperwork exercise as you gain for the ICC with your level 2 licence.

The Perfect Place for Training

We are based in Torquay Marina and have training and changing facilities on site. Torbay offers sheltered waters but also challenging places to practice basic navigation and tides. We can always find somewhere to complete the course – even in the most difficult of weathers.

					  Thank you to all at Torquay water sports for an amazing afternoon on the rib safari. 

We were a group of 8 family and friends and booked this for... read more my birthday. Although the weather wasn’t 100% great don’t let this put you off going out as we still had an amazing time. 

We were taken to areas out of the worst of the weather and spotted seals and followed the beautiful coastline right up into Dartmouth before a thrill ride across the bay and back along the torquay coast. 

Great commentary and a really good laugh.
