We are very passionate about the environment we work and live within every day and being out on the water daily means we can see the effect that humans have on our stunning coastline and for the wildlife that lives within the bay.
We believe that education is the way forward and we loving sharing stories with our customers about the work done by many of the local charities in the bay and what they can do to help.
Reporting wildlife sightings is something we focus heavily on and is something everyone can do when out exploring the coastline. We work closely with many organisations monitoring the health and numbers of wildlife in the bay.
The Seal Project in Brixham are responsible for identifying and monitoring the seals in Torbay and we report all sightings to them with photographs so they can keep a track on their wellbeing – we haven’t quite mastered the art of identifying seals ourselves yet. Released seals are tagged and we look out for those too.
Sea Watch Foundation are another charity we work with, reporting our sightings of dolphins, basking sharks and other marine mammals.
We also have a Marine Conservation Zone (MCZ) in Torbay protecting one of the largest colonies of breeding guillemots in the British Isles. Showing off these wonderful birds whilst minimising disturbance whilst they are nesting is truly wonderful.
